A few months ago, we enthusiastically received the invitation to participate in the VI International Mathematics Olympiad organized by the Colombo Gales School of Bogotá. Immediately after receiving the invitation, we applied a rigorous selection process to choose the seeds (students) who would represent our school.

Although mathematics is not the favorite subject for some seeds, at Renfort Bilingual School, we aim for each seed (student) to shine with their unique skills and talents. This selection process was not easy for our Growers (teachers), who selected 12 seeds from our Renfort Monaco, Renfort Alhambra, and Renfort at Home ateliers.

For approximately two and a half weeks, we organized individualized preparation sessions with the seeds,there, we studied the topics to be evaluated and reinforced their knowledge and skills. This joint effort, both in personalized sessions and in the PROMA classes (Logical Thinking and Mathematical Reasoning) were fundamental to the achieved success. We especially thank our team of Growers from the MEC laboratory (Modeling, Experimentation, and Confirmation) for their dedication.

The event featured the participation of nearly a thousand students from 100 schools, located in 54 cities across 13 countries and 2 continents. The experience of competing in such a diverse and prestigious environment is a source of great pride for our entire Renfort community.

 

Highlighted Results

We were the third school with the fewest participants, with 1.2% of the total competitors. However, our seeds stood out significantly, achieving the following results:

  • Bronze Medal:
    • Jorge Alejandro Garzón Salas (Llywellin Category)

 

  • Silver Medal:
    • Juan Manuel Ramos Morales (Llywellin Category)
    • Thomas Hende Giraldo (Lawrence Category)
    • Mariana Cediel Armenta (Llywellin Category)

 

  • Gold Medal:
    • Gael Barrios Martínez (Morrigan Category)
    • Samuel David Díaz Chambueta (Gales Category)

 

With these results, we achieved a 50% effectiveness rate, placing us almost 10 percentage points above average. Additionally, we achieved a 75% classification rate for our competitors to the final stage, standing out in the medal tally with 1.7% of the total medals compared to other institutions.

We congratulate all our seeds for their dedication and achievements, and we extend our gratitude to the entire team of Growers who accompanied and made this success possible.
