At Escole, we commit each year to being agents of change and social transformation in Colombia. This commitment materializes through our annual mission #UnidosPorOtros, an initiative that, since 2020, has united the ESCOLE community, including the Red de Colegios Personalizados Renfort, Editorial Escolab, and Lupe Academy, in an inspiring cause: improving the lives of families and entire communities.

 

In 2023, we joined forces with the NGO Techo Colombia through the campaign #UnidxsPorUnTecho, where our community aimed to make a significant impact by constructing a dignified home for a family living in vulnerable conditions in informal settlements in our country. This mission was more than an act of social responsibility; it was a call to action, a shared commitment reflecting our deep empathy and solidarity towards those who need it most.

 

For Escole and the Colegio Personalizado Renfort, transforming lives goes beyond creating learning experiences. We believe in planting seeds of change that fosters awareness and empathy in our seeds (students) and our entire community. #UnidosPorUnTecho is a testament to how, by joining our hands and purposes, we can spark profound transformations that overcome obstacles and improve the lives of entire families.

 

Our mission came to life through various activities that brought the community together in a common effort to raise funds and make this dream a reality, including:

Thanks to the generosity and collective effort of our entire community —families, seeds (students), growers (teachers), and gardeners (administrative team)— the family of Yeni Parada became the beneficiary of our work. Yeni, 27, and her husband Jose and their two sons, Cristian (9) and Ángel (4), lived in a precarious dwelling in Portal del Divino, Usme. Surrounded by metal sheets and dirt floors, they faced constant challenges, especially during cold and windy nights.

 

“The donation of the emergency house will help mitigate exposure to the cold, reducing respiratory illnesses in our children. We no longer fear that the wind will blow hard and knock down our roof while we sleep” shared Yeni, with a deep sense of relief and hope. This new home represents not only a safe roof but a new beginning, a place where her family can thrive with dignity.

 

The #UnidosPorOtros missions represent the heart of who we are at Escole: a Mycelium, a supportive community committed to building a better future for Colombia. Year after year, we are convinced that together we are stronger and that by joining forces for the well-being of others, we achieve changes that profoundly impact the life of a family, a community, and ultimately, an entire country.

 

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to every member of our community who participated in this noble cause. We also deeply thank the NGO Techo Colombia for their invaluable support and accompaniment in every step of the process. Thanks to their dedication and joint effort, we have been able to provide a dignified home for Yeni and her family, who now enjoy a safe home.

 

The success of #UnidosPorUnTecho reaffirms our commitment to social transformation and inspires us to continue seeking ways to positively impact the lives of those who need it most. Although each mission is unique, what remains constant is our desire to plant seeds of change and build a more just and supportive future.
